Understanding Inspection Requirements for Haunted Houses and Related Amusement Facilities

Course description:

This course one-day course will provide the code official or local fire inspector with a historical perspective of incidents involving haunted houses along with a fundamental understanding of code requirements and special construction features to insure safety and compliance for responsible parties and attendees.  This course also includes an overview of similar fall attractions including corn mazes and festivals.  Students will utilize their locally adopted codes to work through activities that work cooperatively with classroom lecture. 

Course objectives:

1. Determine code requirements for amusement facilities

2. Demonstrate compliance in new and existing facilities

3. Identify design approaches to ensure proper construction

4. Recognize other agencies to provide assistance for complex inspections.
