Course Description/Learning Objectives: This two-day (1.2 CEU) course instructs students in performance of plan reviews based on the International Residential Code®. Instruction includes applicability of the code, building planning, room areas, heights and stairways, foundations and floors, and wall and roof construction. Plans for different single-family homes and town homes are used to illustrate the steps in performing plan reviews.
The Building & Fire Code Academy is approved by the Division of Private Business and Vocational Schools of the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). BFCA is an International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) authorized provider and an American Institute of Architects/Continuing Education System (AIA/CES) registered provider. Students completing courses receive 1.2 continuing education units, contact hours, and/or state credit where applicable. Architects completing classes earn 12 learning units. All courses qualify for health, safety, and welfare credit.
