Course Description/Learning Objectives:
Essential for both building and fire inspectors, this four day class (2.4 CEU) will discuss and assess the intent and rationale for the fire code requirements and the correlation between the fire code and building code. Also discussed are the general requirements for fire prevention in a building include emergency preparedness, building features used by the fire department during an emergency, general precautions against fire, building services, interior finishes and fire protection systems requirements. Means of egress requirements enforced by the fire inspector are explained in detail. The International Fire Code outlines the safety requirements for occupancy and operations in a building. This includes fire safety during construction, dry cleaning, flammable finishes, service stations, garages and flammable liquids. Requirements for storage and/or uses of materials and processes are reviewed.
