Description: A two-day course (1.2 CEU) which summarizes the building review process and analyzes the purpose of municipal building departments, their organizational goals, and the code adoption process as related to amendments to the code.

Learning Objectives: Students successfully completing Basic Code Enforcement will:

Evaluate a site plan as related to established zoning ordinance criteria
Complete a permit application devised of essential components and meeting legal requirements
Assess architectural plans to ensure all required components are accurately represented
Differentiate classification of inspection required by municipalities
Analyze code related building inspections that meet municipal required criteria
Evaluate, investigate, and delineate complaints documenting mandated evidence in the process
