International Building Code - Chapters 11, 10, Existing Building, and Accessibility Requirements (2018)

Description:  Day 1 (0.6 CEU) of this training this course will illustrate the accessibility requirements in the International Building Code Chapter 10, 11 and the Existing Building Code. These Chapters indicate where the accessibility requirements are applicable. Day 2 of this training this course will also illustrate and compare the relationship between the 2018 International Building Code and the ICC A117.7-20009 Accessible and usable buildings and facilities standard, assessing their relationship to Federal Fair Housing Act. (FHA). Additionally, students will be led to identify requirements for Type B units or accessible spaces.  

Learning Objectives: Students successfully completing the International Building Code Accessibility will:

• Students will review the code to determine when the accessibility requirements are applied.
• Students will identify and formulate units and amenities are required in Type B units or accessible spaces based on building types and arrangements.
• Interpret and calculate compliance alternatives utilizing assigned point values to parts of existing buildings to rate fire safety and means of egress
