National Certification Test Prep - Permit Technician

Course Description:

A one-day course (0.6 CEU) structured to facilitate the use of the appropriate reference materials to test and become certified as a Permit Technician, including the IZC, Basic Code Enforcement, select chapters of the IBC, and Legal Aspects of Code Administration. Activities include reviewing key code aspects of basic layout of the IBC and IZC including use of the table of contents, index and referenced standards, a chapter review, and examination of test taking strategies related to taking multiple choice exams.

Learning Objectives:

• Comprehensive instruction and illustration on the use, application, intent and rationale of the various codes including the International Building Code, International Zoning Code, Legal Aspects, and Basic Code Enforcement
• Utilize test taking strategies and practices through the use of timed practice tests
• Develop an understanding of test taking strategies related to taking multiple choice exams, and demonstrate how to properly identify “Key Word” and “Phrases” in a test question
