Understanding Means of Egress in Assembly Occupancies

Course Description:
A six-hour (0.6 CEU) course structured for the municipal instructor or design professional, this course administers comprehensive instruction and illustration of the use, application, intent and rationale of appropriate means of egress (Chapter 10) as defined in the 2021 International Building Code. Participants will be led in demonstrating knowledge in the different occupancy classifications; calculations of occupancy load in each area; location of specific code sections that provide requirements, and the interrelationships between occupancy, number of occupants, and common path of travel to determine the means of egress. Participants will apply the code requirements to create a safe and code compliant means of egress system.
