Understanding the Role of the Inspector
Course Description:
This class will cover the role of the inspector in today’s ever changing environment. It will explain the written parts of the job, the unwritten parts of the job and everything in between.
It reviews the basics of the job and how to be effective, provide thorough inspections without going beyond the responsibilities of the position. This fundamental course will develop your approach to inspections, customer service, working as part of a team, working independently, doing the right thing, proper communication and surviving in a municipal environment. The student should bring to class their easiest inspection assignment and their toughest inspection assignment. (0.6 CEU)
Learning Objectives:
Students successfully completing the Role of the Inspector will:
Interpret and relay instances and postures detailed in the primary characteristics, modeling accepted social practices and interactions.
Model and emulate essential soft skills outlined and generalized for purposes in ensuring safe code-compliant buildings.
Verbally analyze and demonstrate through role-play and discussion, the non-technical traits and behaviors identified in the job duties of the inspector.
