Description: A one day course (6 hours, .6 CEU’s) examining and relating concepts and principles of legal issues that affect code officials in the administration of their duties.

Learning Objectives: Students successfully completing Legal Aspects will:

Distinguish between local, state and federal law is addressed and the impact that each has on the establishment and enforcement of the model codes.
Describe and assess the three main law concepts that the code official will encounter: Administrative, Constitutional and Property Law.
Discover and analyze Liability, Intentional and Negligent Wrongdoing and Immunities.
